How to make a gif [photoshop only]

To be honest i don’t consider myself any expert at gifing (accept now that this is a word because i will be using it a fair bit) but i have gotten a couple people asking me how i make my gifs. so i thought i’d give it a shot to answer the best i can. if you have any questions or encounter any problems let me know and we can figure something out - the entire process of how i gif was learned through not being able to do things others could. anywho, allonsy!
EDIT: as of late i’ve gotten some questions about this tutorial, please look under my gifhelp tag to see if your question has already been answered before asking me for help!
EDIT EDIT: IF YOU ARE USING CS6/A MAC PLEASE GO TO MY NEW GIF TUTORIAL HERE. both tutorials are split into two parts capping & creating, so if you’re capping on a windows, and then creating in CS6, follow the capping part of this tutorial and the creating part of the other. make sense?

CAPPING - WINDOWS
1) before we get started go download photoshop cs5 and kmplayer, also go find some  fairly basic psd’s you can use to color your shtuff :3

2) open a video file in kmplayer and find the part you want to gif. i would recommend using 720p videos if you want higher quality but it’s not necessary! i’m going to use a clip from amy in victory of the daleks so i find the spot where i want my gif to start and pause it.

3) now to capture some frames, hit ctrl+g on your keyboard to open the frame capture window. i have my settings set like so, but you can change where your frames are saved to by clicking the icon next to the “extract to” area.
image
4) hit start and then go play your video, stop it when the part you want to gif is done. one thing i should mention is taking the screencaps might slow down your computer a bit, resulting in the video lagging as the shots are taken, once you stop taking the captures the video will go faster to make up for lost time. just keep calm and carry on.

CREATING - CS5
5) okay, so now go to photoshop and locate where your frames were saved, for me they go under documents -> kmplayer -> capture, so open up that folder and select the frames you want to gif. i try to keep it from a 10-20 frame maximum depending on what size my gifs are going to be. if you’ve taken more than that then just select the 15 or so frames with the most “content” in them. go file -> open, select your frames by holding down the tab key and then open them.

6) your frames should all open as different images, but we want them all to be stacked as different layers in one image. if you’re lucky you’ll be able to skip step 5 and 6 and just go to file -> scripts -> load files into stack, but this button doesn’t work for me so now i must do the tedious job of dragging all my frames onto one layer. if you need help doing this look over here! phew, 20 seconds later and i’m done. here’s what you should have:image

7) now since i’m making a square gif to go in a gifset i’m going to go image -> image size -> height: 245 (your width will be 436) and hit okay. then i’m going to go image -> canvas size -> width: 245 to make a nice little square. now it’s time to sharpen your gif. so go filter -> sharpen -> smart sharpen -> these settings, after you do this once just press ctrl+f to repeat the action. go through the layers and sharpen each one.
image

8) make sure you have your animation window open (window -> check off animation) and click the drop down menu. hit “make frames from layers”, in some cases, your frames will be in the wrong order so you might need to press “reverse frames” too. select all your frames (hold down tab people!) and click the little down arrow by “0 sec”. this is the delay between frames. i always put mine at 0.13 so hit the “other” button and type in .13.
image

9) add a psd on and press the play button to see how it looks!
image

10) final step, go file -> save for web and devices and put your settings to something like this, if the gif is over 1M you can reduce the size by lowering the colors or reducing the number of frames.
image

and there we go! hope that helped and if you have any questions please message me! good luck ^.^

How to cutting out an image [photoshop only]

hullo there! well i was bored today so i thought i’d try my hand at teaching you guys how to do some simple photo manipulation in photoshop cs5. in this tutorial i’ll be showing you how to add a background to an image and some other things along the way. so yeah, that’s cool, allonsy! *edit: tutorial remade november 18th 2012
[[MORE]]
1) find the image you want it to use, open it in photoshop and resize/sharpen it how you please :) create a layer below the one with your image on it and put the color or texture you want as the background.

2) using the quick selection too while on the image layer, select your subject. you may have to alternate between selecting and deselecting (alt/option while clicking) different areas until you get something exact.

3) using the refine edge tool, adjust your smart radius, smooth, feather, contrast and shift edge until you get something that works. below are the settings i usually use (except not the smart radius, only use that if there’s hair!) hit “ok” and copy/paste your selection into a new layer.

4) add on any final touches such as psd’s or background dodads!

1. whoopdeedo! what’s that you say? another tutorial? yes! because everyone likes things to look like those 3D popup books we had when we were kids! okay, step one, open happiness something. i’m opening tom* and resizing him to 500px width and sharpening him. now, duplicate your image twice and under your adjustments add in a red and blue solid color, arrange your layers like so:

2. change the blending on both of the color layers to screen and merge them with the image beneath it. now change the blending on both of the coloured layers to “darken”, you should have this:

3. finally, select the red layer and use your arrow keys to slide it over, i’m moving it 1px right and 1px down. then go on your blue layer and use your arrows to move it in the opposite direction, 1px left, 1px up. and there you have it! if the image is blurred in areas you don’t want it to be just go in with a fluffy eraser and erase the bits you want to be clear.

*if you image isn’t black and white hit ctrl + u and drag down the saturation!

How to make flower crown edits [photoshop only]

HOW TO MAKE FLOWER CROWN EDITS

image

It doesn’t take me as long to make them as it took for me to write this is what’s really sad.
The way I start is by finding a raw HQ picture (usually on onedirectionpictures.net) and putting it in PS. Some people take images from tumblr but those are the flower crowns that don’t look quite right. From the picture you choose you kinda know the shape of the flower crown you’ll need to find. So I find a flower crown (usually on someone’s head already) on Google and paste it on top.
Then I trace the crown with the pen tool. It looks like this: image. Most people use the magic wand and select everything that isn’t a crown but I think it makes the edges look choppy (thank you Sofie for introducing me to this I’m in love). This tool takes a while to use, though, so you might want to just use the magic wand.
When you’ve completed the trace, click image and then set the feather to 1:
image
Invert your selection [Select>Inverse] and delete everything so you’re left with only a flower crown. (You might have to move the layer and delete some stuff that wasn’t within the confines of the canvas if your crown picture was bigger than your boy picture.)
Now, set your tool to Move (image)and move the crown into place. Resize it and rotate it until it looks right. It’s okay if you have to make the crown a bit bigger, but if you can shrink the image underneath to fit and keep it at least 500px wide, that might be better. You can warp it a little if you have to but that almost always looks silly so I usually use the eraser to get rid of odd flowers.
Now, the most important step, I think. You need to make the crown look like it belongs on the raw image. This is why a lot of crowns look out of place, because people don’t do this. For this process I use direct adjustments [Image>Adjustments] on the crown instead of adjustment layers because you’d need to use a mask to keep the image of the boy underneath unaffected and masks are a pain to move.
I usually stick to an Exposure adjustment, a Curve adjustment, and a Hue/Saturation adjustment. It’s not something I can really explain how to do, you just have to tinker with the crown until it looks at least somewhat natural.
After this, use adjustment layers over everything to give the picture the effect you want. If you don’t know adjustment layers, there are some tutorials on yeahps.tumblr.com.
Now, some things you might find frustrating.
The crown’s blurry while the picture is HQ:
Option 1: Use a low-radius Gaussian Blur [Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur] on the HQ image until it looks right.
Option 2: Sharpen and then Gaussian Blur the crown.
Option 3: Add a little noise to the crown and then Gaussian Blur it. I’ve done this a few times I don’t even know if it’s a good idea it probably isn’t but hey 20k notes.
The flower crown is too sharp/high quality for the image:
Gaussian Blur.
The lighting is different on the crown than the image:
I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who cares about this, but if it’s really obvious or you share my pains, Use the dodge tool (image) where the light is supposed to hit and the burn tool (under the arrow of the dodge tool, looks like this image) where there is supposed to be shadow.
Ahaha I feel so bad about the length of this. I expect a burning bag of dog poop on my doorstep within the week.
Feel free to like/reblog this if it helped you. And tag me in your flower crown edits! I love them!

How to decorate cake using Icing.

Steps

Step 1

Prepare cake by lightly covering with buttercream icing.

Step 2

Before rolling out fondant, knead it until it is a workable consistency. If fondant is sticky, knead in a little confectioners' sugar. Lightly dust your smooth work surface or the Roll & Cut Mat and your rolling pin with confectioners' sugar to prevent sticking. Roll out fondant sized to your cake. To keep fondant from sticking, lift and move as you roll. Add more confectioners' sugar if needed.

Step 3

Gently lift fondant over rolling pin or slip cake circle under fondant to move; position on cake.

Step 4

Shape fondant to sides of cake with Easy-Glide Smoother. We recommend using the Smoother because the pressure of your hands may leave impressions on the fondant. Beginning in the middle of the cake top, move the Smoother outward and down the sides to smooth and shape fondant to the cake and remove air bubbles. If an air bubble appears, insert a pin on an angle, release air and smooth the area again. Use the straight edge of the Smoother to mark fondant at the base of cake. Trim off excess fondant using a spatula or sharp knife.

Step 5

Your cake is now ready to decorate.
Covering Large Rounds with Rolled Fondant
In most cases, the smaller your cake, the easier it will be to cover with rolled fondant. However, there is an easy way to position and smooth fondant on cakes that are 12 in. diameter or larger. Follow the steps below to lift fondant onto the cake without tearing.

Step 1

Cover cake lightly with buttercream icing. Roll out fondant sized to your cake.

Step 2

Slide a large cake circle that has been dusted with confectioners' sugar under the rolled fondant. Lift the circle and the fondant and position over cake. Gently shake the circle to slide the fondant off the board and into position on the cake. Smooth and trim as described above.

How to make Bouffant Bun.

Step 1: start with slightly dirty hair for grip :) put a finger by your ear and draw a straight vertical line from one ear to the other, sectioning off the front and cliping it up for later.

Updates: Take the rest of your hair and pull it up high on your head into a ponytail with one hairtie. (you're essentially just making a high messy bun next.) Take the ponytail in one hand and a hairtie in the other and pull your hair almost all the way through the hairtie. leaving the last couple inches of hair out so once you twist the hairtie you have a big loop of hair.

Step 2: Now grab the middle of the big loop of hair with the fingers through the ponytail, pull the hairtie half over your now smashed bun of hair, twist once more and pull the hairtie all the way over to the other side. You should be left with a messy knot of hair secured well. Pin the sides down a bit if you wish with bobby pins.

Step 3: pulling the front of your hair down, split it in half, then split both halves in half so you're left with four quarters. Comb one of your bottom quarters to smooth it out, and wrap it under and up over the bun, pinning to secure.

Step 4: do the same thing with the other bottom quarter. next take one of your top quarters (teasing the back a bit first if you wish) and smooth it diagonally over your head towards the opposite side of your bun, and go around coming back up around and pinning.

Step 5: Do the same with your last quarter, fluffing out the top a bunch with your fingers and spraying with some good hold hairspray. Go over your head in a two way mirror if you have one to make sure there aren't too many fly-aways going on all over the place, and to secure your separated sections for that really structural look, and you're all done!

How to draw anime eyes step by step.

STEP 1.

lets get started. The left side is cartoon girl eyes and the right side is the cartoon boy eyes. What you will do first is pretty obvious, you will draw out the shapes and lines for all the eyes you see here. You can choose to draw all the cartoon eyes, or pick and choose from the pile.how to draw cartoon eyes step 1

STEP 2.

In this second step you will finish drawing out the shapes of the eyes you didn't do in step one and then for the cartoon girl eyes, you will draw the eyelashes and some of the eyeballs. All you need to do for the cartoon boy eyes is add the eyeball shapes.

STEP 3.

Well here is your final drawing step and all you need to do now is sketch out the eyebrows for all the cartoon eyes and then color in the pupils and eyebrows. Once that is done you can start erasing any guidelines you may have to clean up your nice looking cartoon eyes you just drew.
