How to make 3D effect tutorial [photoshop only]

1. Whoopdeedo! What’s that you say? Another tutorial? Yes! Because everyone likes things to look like those 3D popup books we had when we were kids! Okay, step one, open happiness something. I’m opening tom* and resizing him to 500px width and sharpening him. Now, duplicate your image twice and under your adjustments add in a red and blue solid color, arrange your layers like so:


2. Change the blending on both of the color layers to screen and merge them with the image beneath it. now change the blending on both of the coloured layers to “darken”, you should have this:


3. Finally, select the red layer and use your arrow keys to slide it over, i’m moving it 1px right and 1px down. Then go on your blue layer and use your arrows to move it in the opposite direction, 1px left, 1px up. And there you have it! If the image is blurred in areas you don’t want it to be just go in with a fluffy eraser and erase the bits you want to be clear.

*if your image isn’t black and white hit ctrl + u and drag down the saturation!
